Potrivit anexei nr. 1.3 stema comunei Şona se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat de un brâu undat de argint. În partea superioară, în câmp roşu, se află două mâini de aur care se strâng. În vârful scutului, în câmp albastru, se află o cetate de argint zidită cu negru şi crenelată, cu două turnuri laterale circulare, străpunse de câte o fereastră de tragere îngustă şi înaltă, neagră, având acoperişuri conice, cu donjonul central străpuns de o intrare arcuită şi înălţat printr-un turnuleţ având un acoperiş conic, străpuns de o fereastră de tragere îngustă neagră. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat. Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate: Brâul undat reprezintă râul Târnava. Cele două mâini care se strâng fac referire la conlocuirea dintre români şi saşi. Cetatea simbolizează castelul de la Sânmiclăuş al familiei Bethlen, monument istoric din secolul al XVII-lea. Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
