RIFF 170 bio

Summary[edit]

Description
English: RIFF 170 is an early 1970’s style writing pioneer from the Bronx in NYC. He first began writing in 1971 when he was 11 years old. Before adding the 170 to his name he wrote RIFF 1430 for a short time. RIFF stands for Reading Is Fundamentally Fantastic. There was a commercial from the 70’s for the RIF program to encourage young kids to read. Since RIFF 170 was a big reader as a kid and add the extra F and the rest way history.

RIFF 170 wrote from 1971 to 1976 and was a part of many famous crews such as the INDS started by P.H.A.S.E 2. During these years he played a major role in the development of styles running on the NYC transit system during the 70’s. He was and still is regarded by his peers and writers all over the world as a true style master and pioneer of writing culture. Many of the styles invented by RIFF 170 during the Master piece era are still used and influence writers today.

Today RIFF 170 is still promoting the truth about writing culture and doing art. From his IG page to his Not the G word podcast you can hear and learn about the style writing culture and its real roots. Many thanks need to be given to a real style master who has been over looked for years. Those in the know understand the legacy he holds and the importance of RIFF 170 and NYC writing culture during the 1970’s.
