Royal Army Medical Corps stretcher bearers carrying a wounded soldier through a trench at Cape Helles during the Battle of Gallipoli, 1915.

Photo from The War Illustrated, 7 August 1915. Caption reads:

In the heat of battle the stretcher-bearers are ever on the spot to remove the wounded to safety. This photograph shows two R.A.M.C. men carrying a sorely-injured soldier to the ambulance via a trench, thus to be under cover from Turkish bullets.
