| Description |
English: Yet another area-based proof of the Pythagorean theorem. The area of Picea-like shape in green and cyan is equal to the area of the square (yellow and green), because cyan and yellow triangles are equal. On the other hand, each side of “Picea” is a parallelogram with both base and height equal to an appropriate cathetus. Therefore, the area of yellow-green square is the sum of squares of catheti.

Площадь «ёлки» (зелёный и голубой цвета) равна площади квадрата, построенного на гипотенузе (жёлтый и зелёный цвета), т.к. голубой и жёлтый треугольники равны. С другой стороны, каждый из боков «ёлки» – параллелограмм с основанием и высотой, равными длине соответственного катета. Итак, показано равенство площади жёлто-зелёного квадрата сумме квадратов длин катетов. |
