Description
English: By 1900, Skagway, Alaska, had nearly 2,300 inhabitants. Some 16% of the residents of the town were children. This photo, taken around 1901 by Case & Draper, shows Skagway's new public school with the school children and teachers standing outside. The land was cleared so recently that tree stumps can still be seen in the schoolyard.
