Notes on identification[edit]

  • On wood remains in nettles at the edge of a wood.
  • Hygrophanous - deep brown when humid, creamy white when dry.
  • Cellular cap skin with deep yellow hair cells, approx 90µ by 8µ at swollen base. Hairs not visible with hand-lens.
  • Cheilocystidia skittle-shaped, approx. 45µ×18µ.
  • Spores opaque black under microscope, approx. 16×7µ.
