Summary

[edit]
Description The westbound platform of TriMet's Providence Park MAX station, viewed from the west, from 18th Avenue. A train of Type 4 LRVs led by car 412 is arriving. Both tracks in this photo are for westbound trains, the track on the right (the southernmost of the two) being an extra track – also known as a "pocket track" – for short-term storage of an extra train during major events at Providence Park stadium, which can then be placed into service when the event concludes, to provide additional passenger capacity on the MAX line at a time of high demand. This station runs diagonally through the block bound by 17th and 18th Avenues and Morrison and Yamhill Street. It opened in 1997 as Civic Stadium station and has carried two other names in the meantime, during periods when the stadium after which it is named had a different name (PGE Park, then Jeld-Wen Field).
