Summary[edit]

Description
English: "Ladies Dress, as it soon will be --" a satire published Jan 20th, 1796, engraved by James Gillray after a drawing by "Henry C----e". This caricatures the new trend toward strongly neo-classical or "Directoire" fashions in England, and makes a humorous prediction as to what women's clothing would look like in a few years if the trends of 1796 are extrapolated.
