Summary[edit]

Description Part of Preston railway station, Lancashire, England. These are Platforms 1 & 2 in this diagram viewed from what was then Platform 3 (now Platform 1). This page says: "following the restructuring of the station, which coincided with the introduction of Preston "Power Box" in 1972, the western-most platforms were closed to passengers and were used solely for mail and parcels." The sign says R.e.s. Preston which presumably stands for Rail Express Systems Preston. Even parcels traffic is limited these days. The platforms seem to be mainly used for stabling passenger stock.
