Description
English: Members of the Holyoke Fire Department attempt to extinguish the Precious Blood Church fire in Holyoke, Massachusetts on May 27, 1875. Fireman John T. Lynch stands before the front door pulling people from the flames, Lynch was lauded as a hero during the tragedy and would go on to become the chief of the fire department years later.
