Summary[edit]

Description
English: A collection of old machines / engines on Level 0 of Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum. The area called "Power Up"

These were previously on display at the old Science Museum on Newhall Street (until 1997).

This is the Iron Foundry Engine. It is next to the Rolling Mill Engines.

Made by Fenton, Murray and Wood in Holbeck, Leeds about 1805. At that time small engines were beginning to provide power for machinery in small factories. Used by John Bradley and Co (Stourbridge Ltd) from about 1805 until 1931, and N Hingley and Sons (Netherton Ltd) from 1931 until 1961.
