Description
English: The object is a spindle whorl. It is made from cast lead alloy or lead. It is a plano-convex shape and is sub-circular in plan. In the centre, there is a circular perforation which is 8.25mm diameter. The surface is oxidised forming a cream coloured surface. It measures 30.26mm diameter and 11.93mm thick. It weighs 40.8g. The dates of spindle whorls are not certain, but they were used throughout the Roman and Medieval periods.
