Title
Post-medieval mount: Tudor rose mount
Description
English: A cast copper alloy object, probably a backplate from a drawer or cupboard handle, in the shape of a Tudor rose. Only two small projections on the upper outer edge, representing leaves, are missing. The rest of the mount is quite well preserved. The rose consists of an inner flower of six petals and a larger outer flower, also of six petals. There is a squared hole in the centre that would have allowed the handle to be fixed to the drawer or cupboard door. This type of mount was common during the 16th to 18th centuries AD and a number have been recorded on this database.
