Title
Post-Medieval fob, partly melted
Description
English: Silver fob fragment. Cast oval plate with openwork border and a central oval panel, with a series of concave-sided triangular features connecting its inner and outer orders, with pendant arches adorned with incised rocker-work lines between them; partly melted. The form recalls that of a fob attached to a watch chain, and also other small plaques. The disposal of silver scrap along with other rubbish, and without apparent regard for its intrinsic value, is an odd feature of the Victorian period in particular. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900

Length: 31.1mm, Width: 23.6mm, Thickness: 3.4mm, Weight: 6.42gms
