Title
Post-Medieval Fob
Description
English: Copper alloy fob. Cast plate with an attachment ring at its top. The plate takes the form of an heraldic shield with concave sides within a wreath and other vegetal garniture with a label above. Degraded white metal plating appears overall. Lettering on the back, subdivided by crossing lines, appears to include the letters D/C/PLO/[--], and is of more modern style than the form of the fob might suggest. This detail, perhaps a maker's mark, was only noticed during examination of magnified images. From a watch chain. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1820-1900

Height: 43.6mm, Width: 35mm, Thickness: 0.9mm, Weight: 8.05gms
