Description |
English: Octagonal sheet and wire silver cufflinks weighing 2.36g. The cufflinks each have a diameter of 18mm. The upper surface is folded over to form a lip on the reverse. The circular loops of the cufflinks are integral. The wire loop has a diameter of 24x10mm the ends of which are worn.
Decoration is stamped. It consists of a shaded scalloped border. Within this border is a shaded circular borders. At each corner of the octagon is a pointed oval stretching between the corner and this circular border. In the centre of each cufflink is a flower with 8 petals and circular centre. The outer edge of the petals is split into 16 sections, each petal having two sections. The inner edge is split into 8. Between the two edges is shaded. They are similar, but more ornate than, object 1329 in Read (1988) dating from the 18th century, and objects LON-BAD6E2 and LON-427394 from the PAS database. |
