Description
English: Medieval-Post medieval cast copper alloy hooked tag. It is missing the attachment loop and is covered in a red and black patina. It weighs 2.70g and measures 35mmx21mm. The backplate is square. The hook is integral and joins at a corner. The attachment loop was also integral and a small section remains where it joined the backplate opposite the hook. The outside ednge of the backplate is decorated with many lobes. In the centre of the backplate is a flower with five petals and a circular centre. Within each petal is a line. Such hooked tags date from the 16th-17th centuries (Read 1988).
