| Description |
When I first saw this monument, I thought it was a war-related memorial of some sort. The white provides excellent contrast, allowing it to really stand out against it surroundings, and it commands an impressive view of the city, from the upper section of High Park. Turns out it was placed to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Portuguese community in Canada (1953 - 1978). Now, I'm not exactly sure how they came up with 1953 as their founding date, they certainly created an impressive monument to mark the occasion. |
