Summary[edit]

Description
English: This major British naval base and associated towns are on the south coast of England. Visible near the lower centre is the base and part of the town of Portsmouth. (Few ships were in harbour that day.)

To the left of the base we can see the landmark Spinnaker Tower. To the right (lighter) the ferry terminal for travel to Europe.

In the upper part of the picture we see as far as Lee-on-the-Solent.

The Isle of Wight is just out of picture to the left but several vessels can be seen by their wake in this busy waterway, including a large ferry approaching Portsmouth.
