Omschrijving: De schilder en graveur Lucas Vorsterman I (1595-1675 ): kniestuk, naar rechts. Vorsterman was al op 12-jarige leeftijd werkzaam als graveur. In 1617 of 1618 kwam hij als leerling in het atelier van de Antwerpse kunstenaar Peter Paul Rubens, waar hij in 1620 de meestertitel kreeg. Rubens liet Vorsterman gravures maken naar zijn schilderijen. De relatie verslechterde en Vorsterman vertrok in 1624 naar Engeland. Na zijn terugkeer omstreeks 1630 werkte hij voor onder andere Antoon van Dyck.
