"Ma racine est au fond des bois" est la devise qu'Emile Gallé avait fait inscrire sur la porte en chêne sculptée en 1897 par l'ébéniste Eugène Vallin, pour son entreprise de l'avenue de la Garenne, à Nancy. Elle est exposée depuis 1964 (coté nord) dans le jardin du musée de l'Ecole de Nancy. Au niveau stylistique, elle a subi les influences de l'art médiéval, du japonisme, du naturalisme et du rationalisme, comme l'indique le cartel. www.nancy.fr/culturelle/musee/html/ecole_de_nancy |
