Summary[edit]
DescriptionPony on Stoney Cross Plain, New Forest - geograph.org.uk - 123554.jpg |
English: Pony on Stoney Cross Plain, New Forest. Stoney Cross Plain (which merges with Janesmoor Plain to the north) was the site of an RAF/USAF airfield during the Second World War. The pony in this photograph is standing on the course of one of the three runways, which tend to be soggier than the surrounding plain as they are slightly sunken. The plain is heavily grazed by ponies and cattle, and the ponies are quite used to tourists stopping to look at them. Some ponies are over-confident and pursue tourists in the hope of being fed. |
