| Description |
English: Ponies grazing on Hatchet Moor, New Forest. These New Forest ponies are grazing on the western part of Beaulieu Heath known as Hatchet Moor. The area was used as an airfield during the Second World War, and the waterlogged area to the left of the picture is the western end of one of the main runways: the eastern end is used as a model aircraft flying area 27301. The perimeter service road is still maintained as an off-road cycle track, and is the dominant man-made feature in this desolate grid square. |
