Description
English: Plaque in a copper beech tree at the David Livingstone Memorial park in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The tree has consumed the plaque since it was planted. See the tree here 895819.
The plaque reads as follows. (Reconstructed text hidden by the tree is given in square brackets.)

In David Livingstone Centre, we can read:

With the site and buildings being secured, work on Shuttle Row was able to begin and the collection was able to subsequently grow, with an official opening ceremony on 5 October 1929.
So, the hidden part of the date on the plaque can be completed accordingly. The tree was planted on that day in 1929. The tree's age at the time of planting is not specified on the plaque; it may have been a few years. So, when these photos were taken in 2008, its estimated age would have been around 70–75 years.
