日本語: 場所細胞と格子細胞。（a）場所細胞は，動物が環境のなかの特定の場所を通り抜けるときにのみ活動する．動物の移動の軌跡を灰色の線で，細胞の発火活動の位置を赤色の点で示す．場所細胞が発火を示す場所（赤色）を場所受容野とよぶ．場所受容野の位置は個々の場所細胞により異なる．
（b）グリッド細胞は，環境のなかの複数の場所で活動し，この場所が正三角形をしきつめた格子の頂点に位置する． |
