| Description |
English: Pivot Bench Mark on Milestone , Hanley Swan. The hole in the top of the milestone is all that visibly remains of the pivot bench mark (PV0148).
This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 103.8620 feet [31.6571 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Manchester to Gloucester (Branch Levelling to Great Malvern Trigonometrical Station) levelling line. The surveyor's description was "Mark on the 3d milestone from Upton-on-Severn and 5th from Great Malvern ; 2.77 ft. above centre of road." http://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm31317 1779353 |
