English: Pitt House Gateway According to the plaque on the end this gate was built between 1766 and 1767 for improvements to the residence of William Pitt, Earl of Chatham. Assuming that the Beech tree that is pushing the wall down wasn't there at the time, it has grown to a massive size in around 240 years! |
