Description
English: Pirna, Am Markt No. 1/2, town-hall, cultural heritage monument.
Deutsch: Pirna: Blick auf das Rathaus (Am Markt 1/2). Das Haus entstand 1486 nach einem Brand als Neubau. ein grundlegender Umbau erfolgte 1555/56. Der barocke Turm wurde 1718 hinzugefügt, der Balkon an der Südseite folgte 1769. Über Jahrhunderte hinweg war das Rathaus mehr Handels- denn Verwaltungshaus. Es bot Fleischern, Bäckern und Tuchmachern feste Verkaufsstände und -räume. Daneben beherbergte es den Ratssaal sowie Archiv- und Kämmereizimmer. Mit Einführung der Sächsischen Städteordnung (1832) stieg der Platzbedarf der Verwaltung, so dass die Fleischbänke 1878 abgebrochen und an der West- und Nordseite durch einen Erweiterungsbau im Stil der Neorenaissance ersetzt wurden. Das Gebäude wurde im Zuge der Stadtsanierung zwischen 1991 und 1997 grundlegend saniert.
