English: Pipe, tabor, stained boxwood, three open holes, two ivory ferrules 1 tabor pipe Metzler, London, England, circa 1840 stained boxwood, ivory ferules, overall length 313 mm stamped ‘METZLER - LONDON - 105 WARDOUR ST’ 1998.60.34 Castle 48 Like the picco pipe, the tabor pipe had only three holes, with a range of over two octaves. It was supported and played by the fingers of the left hand. A drum (tabor) was played by the same player’s right hand.
