Summary[edit]
DescriptionPine warbler (33727116012).jpg |
Weather was trash, so I wasn't even going to bring my camera to my post-work outing today-- my plan was only to harvest some burn hazel (or stinging nettle, if you're one of them educated types) for cooking purposes (it's delicious, despite the immensely painful welts it instantly causes when you touch it). But I grabbed it anyway, as the sun, wrapped in a trench coat of clouds, was threatening to expose itself for a few moments like the pervert who sells meth outside my apartment... but unlike that rakish ne'er-do-well, it did not make good on it's threats. Oh well. Anyway, I'm happy I did. Pine warblers are far from rare, and apparently they even breed in PA, but I never see them. The last one I got a good look at was in 2014, and it was either a female or immature male, and therefore had no color happening (see: www.flickr.com/photos/21531749@N06/13916340343/in/photoli...). So I was very pleased when I noticed one of the group of seven or so palm warblers I was watching was a little too fat and wasn't bobbing his tail like the others. The reason of course being it was not a palm warbler at all, but the very pine warbler you see here. And he was nice enough to actually have some color on him. |
