Summary[edit]

Description
English: The nameplate of the Pierce Building, located at 651-661 Main Street in downtown Buffalo's Theater District, as seen in March 2015. Built in 1921 in the Neoclassical style, the building, which over the course of its history has been used to house various stores and offices, is named for patent medicine manufacturer-turned-State Senator and U.S. Congressman Dr. Ray Vaughn Pierce, whose Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute was located on this site from 1881 until the construction of the current building shortly after his death.
