Summary[edit]

Description
English: The unique backstop net of the adult baseball field at the west end of Pier 40 on a rainy day, at the west end of Houston Street in Lower Manhattan. As the pier was originally designed as a marine terminal, the net is an improvised feature which allows popped-up balls to be trapped "out of play", and then fall through the basket holes back onto the field.
