Description

Sheet music cover "Picayune Frog Polka" by Alphonse Barra, 1894. Chromolithograph cover by M. F. Dunn & Bros., New Orleans. Published by Philip Werlein, New Orleans

Note: The reference is to the Daily Picayune Newspaper and the "weather frog", a cartoon frog published with the weather prediction. The late 19th century versions of various types of weather frogs are shown on the lower half of the cover. (Different versions of the weather frog cartoons are still printed in the Times-Picayune newspaper in the 21st century).
