Left; Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom, pilot of Mercury’s second suborbital mission, and right; John H. Glenn, Jr., first U.S. orbital astronaut. Grissom served as Capsule Communicator, assisted by Glenn, during Carpenter’s flight. (English)
