"Katalogtext:

Dorothea Wilhelmine (1691-1743) ist als Kniestück vor einer Landschaft mit Bäumen und einem römisch anmutenden Bauwerk mit zwei Säulen und einem runden Torbogen dargestellt. Kopf und Blick richtet sie nach rechts. Sie ist in ein weit ausgeschnittenes weites Kleid ohne Ärmel gehüllt unter dem die gebäuschten Ärmel herausschauen und hat ein helles Tuch um die Schultern gelegt. Den linken Ellbogen stützt sie auf einen nicht näher erkennbaren Vorsprung, der von einem von oben herabfallenden Vorhang bedeckt wird. Dorothea Wilhelmine war seit 1717 mit Landgraf Wilhelm VIII. verheiratet, lebte allerdings seit 1725 wegen ihrer Geisteskrankheit fernab des Hofes. Das Porträt ist identisch mit der dritten Figur von links auf dem Familienporträt, das Philip van Dyck malte (GK 327)." [1]
