| Description |
(1 in a multiple picture album) If you in excellent shape you might want to hike down from the South Rim on Bright Angel Trail to Phantom Ranch. It is in the trees at the center of the picture. The hike is 10.3 miles and they claim you can make it in 4-6 hours. I'm guessing I couldn't. If you hike down there you will lose 4800 feet in elevation. Of course, some pay for the mule train to ride down, spend the night and ride back up. That's easier, but probably more scary. Note the trail continuing north from the trees. Bright Angel Trail continues down to the Colorado River, across and then up to the north rim. Good luck with that kids. |
