The experts at Bruun Rasmussen informed us that this was a study for Ilsted's En italiensk gårdhave (An italian court garden). That painting was sold at Arne Bruun Rasmussen auction 522 in 1989. The staircase also featured in one of Ilsted's mezzotints (see "other versions").
