Dr. RICHARD HENRY, tenth child of JohnChew and Mary (Snowden) Thomas, b, June 20th,1805, was educated at the University of Pennsylvania,sharing the first honors, and was graduated in its MedicalSchool in 1828; afterwards he settled in Baltimore, wherehe had one of the largest practices; was a Professor inthe Medical School of the University of Maryland, andan eminent Minister of the Society of Friends, in whichcapacity he traveled extensively in Europe and America.He md. first May 13th, 1830, MARTHA, dau. of J as.Carey, a Bank President and distinguished Merchantof Baltimore, and had issue: JAMES CAREY b.
