Provenance:

Painted for James I; sold to De Critz and others for £12 on 18 November 1651 from Hampton Court (no 23); recovered at the Restoration and listed in the 2nd Privy Lodging Room at Whitehall in 1666 (no 206); the painting seems to have spend from 1688 to 1792 in the Gallery at Windsor; then moved to the Queen's Gallery at Kensington Palace, where it appears in Pyne's illustrated Royal Residences of 1819 (RCIN 922155).
