Pattern recognition: small figures present, no small figures present. From the series "Pattern Recognition" inspired by the work of M. Bongard

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Bongard problem-solving program has several stages. Raw data gradually get converted into descriptions. This process matches in many respects the codification Kandinsky refers to in "Points & Line to Plane" as he catalogs some fundamental elements of composition such as a point, line, or plane to map out the environment artists work in and elaborate on their initial creative impulse.

The process from raw outline to the final image was successfully implemented in several Visual Communication classes. It was also presented in professional and academic lectures. The outcome is a 24 images portfolio & log notes available in print.
