This is a Class "A" Climax locomotive. It had 2 vertical cylinders, 2 trucks, and a horizontal "tee" boiler. The boiler was positioned vertically or horizontally (tee style). It had a two-speed gearbox and came in weights up to 22 tons. The frame was similar to a flat car, with a shed or awning built up over the frame to protect the engineer from the elements. The two steam cylinders were vertically positioned in the covering super-structure. They were manufactured in weights below 17 tons. Climax locomotives were manufactured March 1888 - 1928. The first 4 miles opened in late July. In 1902, a Wild Goose Railroad was started as Council City, so the original Wild Goose Railroad was renamed the Nome-Arctic Railroad.
