Description The following is the author's description of the photograph quoted directly from the photograph's Flickr page.
"A young Pashai girl. Very distinctive colors an patterns, much different the Pashtuns in the valleys below.

"Pashai are a Dardic ethno-linguistic group living primarily in eastern Afghanistan. Their total population is estimated to be 500,000.[3] They are mainly concentrated in the northern parts of Laghman and Nangarhar provinces and eastern Kapisa province. Pashai are believed to be descendants of ancient G%u0101ndh%u0101r%u012B.[4][5] Many Pashai consider themselves Pashtuns speaking a special language,[6] and many are bilingual in Pashto.[2] Small Pashai communities can also be found in the Chitral district of northwestern Pakistan. The majority of Pashai are Sunni Muslims and are often referred to as Kohistani[6], while a minority are Nizari Ismaili Muslims."

She speaks Pashayi...

"Pashayi - also known as Pashai - is a language (or a group of languages) spoken in parts of Kapisa, Laghman, Nuristan, Kunar, and Nangarhar Provinces in Northeastern Afghanistan.
It belongs to the Indo-European language family, and is on the Dardic group of the Indo-Aryan branch.[1]
It was spoken by over 216,842 people who are predominantly Muslim. Literacy rates are low: below 1% for people who have it as a first language, and between 15% to 25% for people who have it as a second language.[2]
There are four main varieties, which are all mutually unintelligible: the Northeastern, the Northwestern, the Southeastern and the Southwestern."
