Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Snowy Egret (Egretta thula) after landing on a weir gate that separates the park lake from the walking path. The gate allows controlled waterflow between the lake and connected areas. The constructed lake demonstrates the efforts of providing a natural habitat for wildlife in an urban environment. A barrier between the natural and the urban, the gate not only incorporates humans' ability to preserve the beauty in nature, but the ability to deface it with graffiti, as well. The egret easily traverses through both environments in search of food. Photographed at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City, California.
