Description
English: Polish army Col. Marek Gmurski (center), land forces training commandant of Drawsko Pomorskie Training Area and U.S. Army Capt. Matthew McCarthy (right), commander, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade and a resident of Deerfield, Ill., pin a military emblem on a Polish army cadet of the Kalisz Pomorskie Secondary School during a ceremony honoring the victims of 9/11 in Kalisz Pomorskie, Poland Sept. 11. The 173rd Airborne Brigade has partnered with local teachers, fire fighters, veterans and Polish army paratroopers while serving in Operation Atlantic Resolve, a series of combined training missions in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania dedicated to demonstrating commitment to NATO obligations and maintaining interoperability with allied forces.
