| Description |
English: The postal service of Norway issued a stamp in 1999 celebrating the false fact that the paper clip was invented in 1899 by a Norwegian. The background depicts his German Patenschrift from 1901, but the clip in the foregound is the common Gem clip, never patented, but introduced in 1892. The clip patented by Johan Vaaler in Germany and USA was not convenient and was never manufactured.
Norsk bokmål: Postverket utga i 1999 utga en frimerkeserie for å feire norsk oppfinnsomhet, med bilder av ostehøvel og binders. Bakgrunnen er et tysk Patentschrift fra 1901 til oppfinner Johan Vaaler. Men bindersen i forgrunnen er bindersen som alle kjenner, aldri patenert, men produsert allerede i 1892. Bindersen som Vaaler patenterte i Tyskland og USA var upraktisk og kom aldri i produksjon. |
