German WW2 era Medium Tank Official designation:- Sd.Kfz 161 Panzerkampfwagen IV Built:- 1936 to 1945 Total Production:- 8,553 (all variants) Main Armament:- 75mm KwK 40 L/48 gun The Panzer IV was the most widely used German tank of WW2, with the chassis design also being used on several other vehicles. The Ausf.G variant introduced the 75mm KwK 40 Anti-tank gun. To show how complicated individual tank identities can be, the following information on this Panzer IV is from www.preservedtanks.com :- Chassis No “82937” stamped inside hull under drivers visor. Hull No “83293” stamped outside hull under bow MG mount. Turret No “82993” stamped into centre of roof. However you identify it, it is on display in Hall 9 of the Patriot Museum Complex. Park Patriot, Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia. 25th August 2017 |
