45 Parliament
51 Division HQ, Toronto Police Services
320 King Street East, completed around 2013, on the NW corner of King and Parliament.
334 King Street East a historic "H" shaped building on the NE corner of King and Parliament.
Parliament Square, Toronto, near the site of Upper Canada's first small Parliament buildings, burnt by invading American troops during a brief occupation, during the War of 1812. The Royal Navy's burning of The White House and other public buildings in Washington DC was a disproportionate act of retaliation.
This tent contains the temporary cafeteria set up to feed the athletes and their coaches during the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 Parapan American Games. Building just east of the tents serve as the 2015 Pan American Games Athletes' Village.
These residential buildings will serve as the 2015 Pan American Games Athletes' Village, in early July 2015, will also serve as the Athletes' Village for the 2015 Parapan American Games a few weeks later.
The buildings that serve as the Village include several that will become luxury condominiums, one that will be George Brown College's first student residence, and another that will be turned into apartments managed by the YMCA for the formerly homeless.
During the Village period the apartments weren't fully finished. The floors remained concrete, so athletes' cleated shoes and other equipment wouldn't damage them. Tiles, carpet and wood coverings would be installed, later. During the Village period the apartment's kitchens did not have any kitchen counters, sinks, cabinets or appliances installed, so they could serve as an additional bedroom -- kitchens being unnecessary since the athletes' would eat in a large cafeteria.
The Hearne Generating Plant, formerly a coal fired electrical generating plant. Plans to repurpose it include turning it into a sports facility. Its floor is said to be large enough to hold eight hockey rinks.
The Eastern Gap -- what is called the Toronto Islands was a long sand spit. After some sand had been quarried a large storm in the late 19th Century broke through the sand spit, providing a second entrance to the harbour. The wooded land behind it is the Leslie Street Spit, decades of land fill deposited from the mid 20th Century.
This large berm of construction material is being temporarily stored on the banks of a shipping channel. Several kilometers of berms line the south shore of the channel, but the others aren't visible today as they are covered by rubber tarpaulins. The berms are close to 30 meters tall.
