Text Appearing Before Image:
sitor was, I think, most im-pressed by those who frankly used the trimmings of the tropics for their chief decorations. The orchid-lined porches of Mrs. M. H. Thatcher, wife of thecivil commissioner, or Mrs. H. H. That is perhaps a trifledisquieting to the adventuroushousekeeper, but, except forthe purpose of entertaining, the Commissary must be agreat boon. Its selection ofhousehold necessities is suf-ficiently varied to meet everyneed; the quality the best andits prices are tmiformly lowerthan in the United States. This comparative cheapness inprices is, of course, due to theelimination of the middlemen, the buying by the com-missary in large quantitiesand the disregard of profit asan elem
