Description
English: A plaque commemorating the first commercial transatlantic survey flights, which were carried out by Pan American World Airways and Imperial Airways at the North Hempstead Town Dock in Port Washington, NY on August 17, 2022. The flights from America originated from Manhasset Bay in Port Washington, while terminating here on trips to America, using flying boats. Manhasset Bay in Port Washington was Pan Am's main New York Seaplane Base prior to the opening of the Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia Airport.
