| Description |
English: Palace of the Great Council of Mechlin, now part of the City Hall. It was built in 1526 by Rombout II Keldermans. It was however never finished. In 1900-1911 it was finished by the architects Van Boxmeer and Langerock othe basis of the original drawings.
The belfry is a fourteenth century gothic building, with several 17th century baroque elements. In 1526 the north side was demolished to build the Palace.
Nederlands: Het paleis van de Grote Raad te Mechelen, nu een deel van het stadhuis. Het werd in 1526 gebouwd door Rombout II Keldermans om er de Grote Raad van Mechelen in onder te brengen. Het gebouw werd echter nooit afgewerkt.
Pas in 1900-1911 werd het onder leiding van de architecten Van Boxmeer en Langerock, volgens de oorspronkelijke 16e eeuwse plannen voltooid. Het belfort is een veertiende-eeuws gotisch gebouw met diverse barokelementen uit de 17e eeuw. In 1526 de noordkant afgebroken om er het Paleis van de Grote Raad te bouwen.
